Entrepreneurship, Creativity, and Innovation : Specifically, the impact of situational factors, choice, and experience on creative thinking and innovative behavior; the challenges of managing “disruptive innovators” while pursuing “disruptive innovation”; and the value of contextualized learning of creativity and innovation in management education.

Interest sparked by participation in NYU Faculty Resource Network seminar, “Critical and Creative Thinking Across the Media” (June, 2008), audit of Columbia Business School class, “Creativity in Product Innovation” (July, 2008), and attendance at 7th Annual NACCE Conference (October, 2009).

Business Ethics and Decision-Making : In particular, the value (both perceived and actual) of using ethical decision-making models in “low stakes” situations. Interest sparked by student comments, participation in AACSB seminar, “Teaching Business Ethics” (June, 2009), and recent news articles.
Awards and Prizes
- WESTCHESTER COMMUNITY COLLEGE FOUNDATION, Valhalla, NY 2009 Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies, Gateway Center, Westchester Community College Awarded $24,000 (cash and in-kind) fellowship, funded by Skirball Foundation, to conduct research in advance of Institute’s opening in May, 2010. Research and subsequent presentations and reports focus on administrative and curricular best practices in community college entrepreneurship; current credit and non-credit student needs; and local and regional partnership opportunities.
- COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY, New York, NY 2009 Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) Awarded $2,500 curriculum development grant to devise course and create online teaching/learning materials for community college course in Import/Export Entrepreneurship.
- NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR COMMUNITY COLLEGE ENTREPRENEURSHIP (NACCE), Springfield, MA 2009 Awarded $300 Coleman Foundation Scholarship to attend 7th Annual NACCE Conference in Chicago, IL.
